The Ultimate Albania 2-Week Itinerary

Traveling in Albania is magical, as you discover a country home to the last virgin beaches in Europe, the rolling green hills of the Albanian Alps, and incredibly preserved Ottoman-era towns. Despite this well-preserved nature, the country is developing fast, and the infrastructure continues to go from strength to strength.

Because of this, the roads are good, so we recommend completing your Albania itinerary by car. The 2 weeks below will take you from Tirana through Berat, Gjirokaster, and finally Ksamil and the Albanian Riviera.

Berat β€” The City of a Thousand Windows

Berat is one of Albania’s most stunning cities, with its UNESCO-listed Ottoman architecture climbing up the hillside. The white facades and clay-tiled roofs have earned it the name “City of a Thousand Windows.” Plan to spend at least 2 nights here.

From there, head south to Gjirokaster β€” another UNESCO-listed Ottoman town with castle ruins, traditional stone houses, and the famous Cold War tunnel beneath the city. Stay 1–2 nights.
